Students from CIC2020, Catalysts for Intellectural Capital Leadership Institute, visited the Center on May 2. They met with Director Bahgat Sammakia, to learn more about the role of the Center of Excellence in enabling economic development in the community. They also toured the Center's roll-to-roll electronics manufacturing facility (CAMM) housed at Endicott Interconnect Technologies (EI) and met with EI President and CEO, Jay McNamara. Mr. McNamara discussed EI's technology roadmap and updated the students on future employment opportunities in the region.
S3IP participated in BU Advocacy Day on March 4, 2008. This event provides an opportunity for the University to educate the New York State Assembly and Senate and their staffs on recent achievements at the University.

S3IP hosted the Southern Section of the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS) on February 28, 2008. As part of the organization’s “Conversations with Chemists” series, Wayne Jones, Binghamton University Chemistry Professor, and S3IP Director of Education and Outreach, gave an overview on nanotechnology and research projects underway in his laboratory. The group also toured the Analytical and Diagnostics Laboratory to learn more about instrumentation available for materials research.
